Yuhang is beautiful for not only its tall buildings, prosperous businesses, interesting entertainments, colorful lights and busy streets but also its fresh air, clean water, simple life style, beautiful flowers, green trees, small bridges above rivers, nice homes and temples in the mountains, quiet paths in the forests, jumping fish with lotus seeds and roots, yellow pear, loquat, plum, bamboo and fragrant tea. One can really enjoy the life of paradise in Yuhang.

Located in the old town Tangqi, Chaoshan is one of the three most famous places to enjoy plum flowers. Chaoshan plum flower is famous for its oldness, strangeness and wideness. Tang Dynasty Plum and Song Dynasty Plum, 2 of the 5 ancient Chinese plum trees in Chaoshan, still bloom in early spring together with other plum trees to make tens of miles of colorful snow of flowers. Therefore, Chaoshan is often praised as having “ten miles of fragrant snow”.

As a famous Buddhist holyland, Jingshan has “5 lined hills with strange structure and quiet environment”, and Jingshan Temple is the most famous in the “5 hills and 10 temples” in Jiangnan.

Linping Hill next to the city has nice form and beautiful views with many historical relics and records. “After the boat passes Linping, one can see no more green hills.” On top of the hill is a pagoda called Yuanting Pagoda to inform the travelers that they are very close to Hangzhou. The famous poet and writer Su Dongpo once wrote: “Who can be compared with the pagoda on top of Linping Hill, which receives guests from west and sends guests back home.” Now there is a majestical and spectacular Pavilion called “First Pavilion of Donglai” on top of the hill.

Tongxiao Palace is one of the 36 Taoist palaces in China. The site of the palace is surrounded by hills in four sides. It has many scenic spots including Lions and Elephants Keeping the Door, Spiritual Phoenix Returning to Nest, Heavenly Pillars Standing Near the Wall, Washing the Worldly Heart with Faith. With green hills, clear spring water, old bridges and nice bamboo, it is a view as described in the poem “smoky path connects the high hill, pine wind separates heaven from earth”.

Besides, many other scenic spots including Huanghe Hill, which is named because celestial being have been there riding on a crane, Shuangxi Bamboo Sea Drifting, which is often praised as the best drifting in Jiangnan, Dongmingshan National Park, Dayu Valley, 9-dragon Waterfall are also important elements in the beautiful picture of Yuhang that has “beautiful landscapes and unified heaven and earth”.

The beauty of Yuhang is enriched through promotion of recycling economy, protection of natural ecosystem and enhancement of the ability to realize sustainable social and economic development. Today, a series of construction projects of recycling economy including ecological industrial development zone, ecological and efficient agricultural demonstration garden, green architecture, green community and energy-saving demonstration project, development and application of new technology of recycling economy, waste disposal and recycling project, demonstration enterprise of recycling economy, and government policies to encourage application of green products are being started now. With “melting into Yangtze River Delta, building a new satellite city and becoming part of big Hangzhou” as its goal, the ecological, green, energy-saving and environment-friendly Yuhang is marching forward towards wealth, harmony and modernization comprehensively.
