In the period to burn incenses to memorize the ancestors in Tomb-sweeping Festival and temple fairs each year, the local girls always wear beautiful clothes to make themselves attractive. They make paper flowers called silkworm flower and put them on their heads. The young boys also put their silkworm flowers on their hats. Looking from a distance, one can see lines of moving flowers on the noisy streets. Getting closer to them, one can sense the happiness and jollification of these young silkworm farmers. It is said that silkworm flower fun can bring bumper harvest of silkworms. As a matter of fact, this festival also makes good opportunities for young people to show their love to each other. In the past, the young girls don’t have much time to go outside to play and have fun in public places, not to mention having private conversations and intimate contacts with young boys. However, there is no restriction on these days, the young boys and girls can have some body contacts in the crowded places. The young boys are more than happy to search for girls they like. The tradition of silkworm flower fun has been popular for many years but it disappeared gradually. In 2005, Tangqi renewed the activities of silkworm flower fun.
